So firstly I want to say I really do like the main character. She is very strong and resilient. I admire that in her. The only thing I worry about is the love story that comes out of her kidnapping. It was very uncomfortable in every kind of way imaginable. Very sad. Very disturbing. I didn’t mind reading it but just found it hard and disturbing to be “entertaining”

Ok so this book has a lot to unpack. It had a lot of very abusive human relations through sex trafficking. I do not condone the actions within the book obviously however with the current slave slave trade globally right now and the devastation that it brings to millions of women it shines a special kind of light on the topic. There is a lot to unpack; I will not go there. Now is far as the disgusting “discusting” comment goes it would be hard to completely disagree with that comment in some of the books scenes. My rating is based on the creativity of the book as well as shining the light on current global affaires.

I thought ok maybe it will get better but no pretty rape driven from start to finish. Even the “consensual” sex isn’t due to the power imbalance. I get that a dom and sub relationship can be sexy but literally sex trafficking and slavery is not something I’m into.

This is not your typical romance novel. It has VERY dark scenes that were difficult to read through but I couldn’t stop. I was so drawn to Button and Crow that I had to keep going. I am so glad I did. This is one of the best romance novels I have read this year and I read the entire series in 5 days! The characters draw you in and make you love them. I felt the pain and love between them and Pene did a great job making a terrible truth in our world something you could read.

A few days went by and I decided to try again and see if I could get past the dark side ..... and I'm so glad I did!! Once I gave it a second chance I was hooked . Pearl has no idea what's about to happen until it's too late . Something that should have broken her completely will change her life and not for the reasons your thinking . Pearl breaks down Crows walls and he has no idea it's happening. He's intrigued by her and protects her in ways he normally wouldn't for any woman. He never thought buttons would be worth so much to him. He's soon finding reasons to get pearl to spend her currency just so he can hold on to her a little longer .....

This was a great read. I stumbled upon an ad for this book, started reading and didn't put it down until 4am, which was when I had read the first two books! Very entertaining and appreciated the boundaries that it crossed to discuss real issues. Also loved that the main character is independent and a fighter! Rather than the usual naive and innocent damsel in distress. Can't wait to see where Crow and Pearl's love story leads in the 3rd book!

Don't waste your time reading this series right now. They are wonderful books, however you will have to wait until MAY to find out what happens. I really wish I waited, because I just spent a whole day rushing through the first 2 books, excited to see what happens with Pearl and Crowe, for nothing. This wait is cruel and unnecessary. I'm so mad that I won't buy the 3rd book, I will find other series that I can actually read from start to finish.

A few days went by and I decided to try again and see if I could get past the dark side ..... and I'm so glad I did!! Once I gave it a second chance I was hooked . Pearl has no idea what's about to happen until it's too late . Something that should have broken her completely will change her life and not for the reasons your thinking . Pearl breaks down Crows walls and he has no idea it's happening. He's intrigued by her and protects her in ways he normally wouldn't for any woman. He never thought buttons would be worth so much to him. He's soon finding reasons to get pearl to spend her currency just so he can hold on to her a little longer .....

This was a great read. I stumbled upon an ad for this book, started reading and didn't put it down until 4am, which was when I had read the first two books! Very entertaining and appreciated the boundaries that it crossed to discuss real issues. Also loved that the main character is independent and a fighter! Rather than the usual naive and innocent damsel in distress. Can't wait to see where Crow and Pearl's love story leads in the 3rd book!

Don't waste your time reading this series right now. They are wonderful books, however you will have to wait until MAY to find out what happens. I really wish I waited, because I just spent a whole day rushing through the first 2 books, excited to see what happens with Pearl and Crowe, for nothing. This wait is cruel and unnecessary. I'm so mad that I won't buy the 3rd book, I will find other series that I can actually read from start to finish.

Ok so this book has a lot to unpack. It had a lot of very abusive human relations through sex trafficking. I do not condone the actions within the book obviously however with the current slave slave trade globally right now and the devastation that it brings to millions of women it shines a special kind of light on the topic. There is a lot to unpack; I will not go there. Now is far as the disgusting “discusting” comment goes it would be hard to completely disagree with that comment in some of the books scenes. My rating is based on the creativity of the book as well as shining the light on current global affaires.

I thought ok maybe it will get better but no pretty rape driven from start to finish. Even the “consensual” sex isn’t due to the power imbalance. This is not your typical romance novel. It has VERY dark scenes that were difficult to read through but I couldn’t stop. I was so drawn to Button and Crow that I had to keep going. I am so glad I did. This is one of the best romance novels I have read this year and I read the entire series in 5 days! The characters draw you in and make you love them. I felt the pain and love between them and Pene did a great job making a terrible truth in our world something you could read.

Worried about implicatilns

So firstly I want to say I really do like the main character. She is very strong and resilient. I admire that in her. The only thing I worry about is the love story that comes out of her kidnapping. It was very uncomfortable in every kind of way imaginable. Very sad. Very disturbing. I didn’t mind reading it but just found it hard and disturbing to be “entertaining”

This book is about rape...it’s disgusting. The writer excuses all the physical and psychological abuse as revenge, dominance, and sick twisted fantasies are supposed to be the panacea for the 2 leads trapped in this together. Absolute trash.

Ok so this book has a lot to unpack. It had a lot of very abusive human relations through sex trafficking. I do not condone the actions within the book obviously however with the current slave slave trade globally right now and the devastation that it brings to millions of women it shines a special kind of light on the topic. There is a lot to unpack; I will not go there. Now is far as the disgusting “discusting” comment goes it would be hard to completely disagree with that comment in some of the books scenes. My rating is based on the creativity of the book as well as shining the light on current global affaires.

The book is about a character who is raped and brutalized. The other reviews were so positive And said just the first bit was hard to read because of that. I thought ok maybe it will get better but no pretty rape driven from start to finish. Even the “consensual” sex isn’t due to the power imbalance. I get that a dom and sub relationship can be sexy but literally sex trafficking and slavery is not something I’m into.

I was so angry about her getting sold by her boyfriend and purchased by bones and all the brutal, horrid things she had to endure. Only to be stolen to another bunch of reprobates! I thought, why am I still reading this crap? I was interested in hearing about her escape because she was so strong, smart and feisty I just couldn’t stop reading. Great sex with Crow who is mysterious and hot. Ending was perfect.

This is not your typical romance novel. It has VERY dark scenes that were difficult to read through but I couldn’t stop. I was so drawn to Button and Crow that I had to keep going. I am so glad I did. This is one of the best romance novels I have read this year and I read the entire series in 5 days! The characters draw you in and make you love them. I felt the pain and love between them and Pene did a great job making a terrible truth in our world something you could read.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to read this book or not . The first few chapters were dark and i actually put it down thinking I was done !!!! A few days went by and I decided to try again and see if I could get past the dark side ..... and I'm so glad I did!! Once I gave it a second chance I was hooked . Pearl has no idea what's about to happen until it's too late . Something that should have broken her completely will change her life and not for the reasons your thinking . Pearl breaks down Crows walls and he has no idea it's happening. He's intrigued by her and protects her in ways he normally wouldn't for any woman. He never thought buttons would be worth so much to him. He's soon finding reasons to get pearl to spend her currency just so he can hold on to her a little longer .....

This was a great read. I stumbled upon an ad for this book, started reading and didn't put it down until 4am, which was when I had read the first two books! Very entertaining and appreciated the boundaries that it crossed to discuss real issues. Also loved that the main character is independent and a fighter! Rather than the usual naive and innocent damsel in distress. Can't wait to see where Crow and Pearl's love story leads in the 3rd book!

Don't waste your time reading this series right now. They are wonderful books, however you will have to wait until MAY to find out what happens. I really wish I waited, because I just spent a whole day rushing through the first 2 books, excited to see what happens with Pearl and Crowe, for nothing. This wait is cruel and unnecessary. I'm so mad that I won't buy the 3rd book, I will find other series that I can actually read from start to finish.
